Our plan was to follow the Freedom Trail through the city. It is a 2.5 mile path that stops by many interesting historical locations, like the early meeting houses used to plan the revolutionary war and the church where Paul Revere saw the lanterns. Monkey Girl and I enjoyed the red line, usually of brick, that we followed. She noticed quickly if we lost the trail. I appreciated that we didn't have to worry about street names or directions to the places we wanted to see!

We ate lunch at the Quincy market behind Faneuil hall. The clam chowder was great!
After lunch we continued along the trail to the North End, which is the area of the city of Italian decent. I found a tasty latte while Grandpa M and Monkey Girl found treats at a bakery. We watched the Santa Rosali Di Palermo procession through the streets and M.G. danced to the marching band.

We worked our way to the river and then hopped a train to look around MIT. Seeing that we had some time left, we rode back to Boston Common and played at the Frog Pond playground. Then we walked through the Public Gardens before heading North again to the campus of Harvard and on to home.

Monkey Girl and M2 did a great job, they are usually good travelers. Monkey Girl spent about half of the time riding in the stroller and half walking. M2 rode in the Ergo.
I'm surprised that I can still carry him all day in there! But, our stops for lunch and little snack breaks gave me all the rest I needed. Both kids enjoyed the train rides quite a bit!
Monkey Girl thought all the statues, especially the frogs in the park, were her favorite things, as well as the Curious George bookstore where we purchased a souviner.
It is a beautiful city and we barely scratched the surface, but we enjoyed seeing the historical sites and it was a great day to wander near the river and in the park.
