Saturday morning we got up super early and hit the road to Minnesota. The car ride went well. Normally we travel during nap time or after supper, so the older kids were full of energy this time. The baby slept most of the way, we just stopped once to feed her. It was a little stressful for me as the kids are so close together back there now - I was trying to keep everyone happy so that they didn't start pestering each other or the baby.
We enjoyed a fun lunch at Grandma and Grandpa B's with Aunt Julie, Uncle Dan, Kelly, and Anna. Then M2 and M.G. were very excited to hunt for the monster in the lake.
On the 4th we took Catherine to her first restaurant for breakfast. She was a doll for us and it was great to have Grandma and Grandpa helping with the older kids. The restaurant had a giant projection TV showing cartoons (with the sound off) and M.G. was entranced.
We got together with my Dad's side of the family for the annual 4th of July get-together. I think the pool was the favorite part for M.G. and M2.
Catherine got to meet a lot of family and seemed particularly fond of Great-grandma. Catherine would give a big grin when they looked at each other and even started to do what looked like silent chuckling a few times.
The day flew by and we left for home around 8 pm. The older kids were asleep pretty quickly and after a couple early stops to eat, Catherine fell asleep too. Papa and I saw scattered fire works as we drove and this was what I saw in the back seat...
