A little more summer vacation.

Tomorrow is M.G.'s first day of 2nd grade!  She is so excited and ready.  I don't know if I am quite as ready yet.  Where did our summer go?  I feel like I haven't had a chance to worry about how it will go for her yet!  It will be good for all of us to get back into a routine, but the first few days are going to be a rough transition from following a different timeline every day and not having any huge time commitments.

We squeezed in as much summer fun as we could in the last couple weeks.  Our friend Jess came to visit with two of her lovely children.  The kids all played so well together had a lot of fun.  We also had quick visits from Chris, who flew in for a night, and my parents.

We made time for a couple last trips to the pool, a couple trips to favorite playgrounds, and two visits to the Children's Museum.  We've been reading, playing outside, and I've been generally trying to ask myself if I can stop what I'm doing to do what they want for these last few days.

A 2nd grader!  She's looking forward to learning things and doing math.  We visited her classroom yesterday and she picked out her desk.  Her teacher seems very friendly.  It is already her 3rd year at this school, so things like library, music, art, gym, and lunch will be comfortable.  Only two boys from her classroom last year moved with her to this classroom, so we're all hoping there are some friendly kids for her to meet and get to know.
M2 always wants to be the one to vacuum his room.  He's very detailed and uses the hose to get all the corners every time!  It takes him quite a while, but he thinks it is so fun!

Papa brought home a skateboard left by a visiting student who has gone home to France.  Chris caught this photo of M.G. cruising down the driveway.

M2 with that day's harvest.

The kids, especially M2, have been asking to go inside and climb up the stairs in the campanile on campus.  Sunday we did it!  They were very excited.
