Christmas 2012

We were fortunate to be able to spend 10 days in Minnesota again around Christmas this year.  We had time for a lot of family parties and some relaxing play time too. The kids were so excited about all of the traditions of Christmas this year.

We enjoyed having a chance to see so much family.  Every year the kids seem more comfortable with the extended family and I always love when we have a few days with Dave and Nissa (and now Oscar the puppy!)  The long break from our routine gives me more time for just hanging out with the kids.

Poor year for getting a photo of all the kids together - more my fault for trying at times with bad lighting!

Four kids bring a lot of energy holiday cheer to any event.  I think these two photos capture the essence of our holiday this year.

We played a lot of games with the kids, either during down time or as part of family celebrations.  It helped calm them when we were waiting for something to happen and also gave them a way to participate with the adults during the parties.  Sorry, Scrabble, Dominoes, cards, bingo, Catch Phrase, Yahtzee, Tiddly Winks, Enchanted Forrest, Candyland, and more I'm sure...

M.G. had been talking about saving up for Bop-It since she played it last Christmas.  She tended to spend her money on smaller things she wanted before she had enough, so it was on the top of her wish list.  She was so very excited to open it!

Santa brought exciting things this year - M.G. got a CD that she had been hoping for, M2 got the Zhu Zhu pet that was his top wish, and M3 was very excited about the small goodies - a hair brush, Squinkies, pens...

M.G. - practically 8

M2 - 5
M3 - 2 and a half (and very excited about this toothbrush she got)
M4 - almost 3 months
