Summer Vacation kick-off weekend!

M.G. finished school on the last Wednesday of May. Thursday afternoon we buzzed over to MN to kick off our summer vacation.

On Friday morning we went to the International Children's Festival in downtown St Paul, with Grandma and Grandpa M.  It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed walking around.

The kids made mouse ears and we saw some drummers.  The highlight was the sway pole dancers.  They climbed up 15 foot poles, attached themselves, and performed choreographed dances for about half an hour.  It was mesmerizing!
After lunch we went out for pizza in early celebration of M3's birthday.

Help with gifts.
Cowgirl outfit!

Super Catie to the rescue!!

Saturday afternoon we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa B's house.  We headed to the playground in the drizzle, just to get some running around time, but were chased out of the park by a gnat storm!  Swarms of gnats - gross, but M2 found it pretty exciting.

M3 had more early birthday and didn't mind all the chances to hear people sing to her.  She tried to get candles in all her desserts that weekend.

Sunday we headed to the MN Zoo.  We haven't been in a few years and everyone enjoyed it.

M3 is acting like a wolf.  I'm not sure about M2!
M3 struggled with the idea of staying with us.  She didn't want the stroller, she didn't want to hold hands.  Led to lots of getting carried (and caught.)  I had just chased her down here and was trying to encourage her to check out the gibbons.  No one felt too bad when she fell asleep in the stroller for the last 30 minutes of the trip!  She's for sure 3 now!
